ADULT SIZE

Here at Donna’s Kountry Kennels we do not guarantee adult size or breedability (as per our agreement). Genetics are a funny thing; you could have a very small mother and father and they could still produce a “throwback”. A throwback is puppy that displays something neither of the parents display. Because of a genetically contributing dog previously in the pedigree. This can show itself in coat color and size. Which is why we do not make any guarantees on adult size.

Below are the AKC standards for show which are used as loose reference guidelines for information proposes only. We do not specialize in show quality dogs. We breed for pet homes, focusing on temperament, beauty, and health.

Dachshund:

Dachshunds are either miniature (11 pounds and under as an adult) or standard (usually between 16-32 pounds as an adult). If your Dachshund is 11-16 pounds, he or she is what is called a “tweenie”

Poodle:

Poodles are measured differently; their size is measured by the height by the shoulder. They come in three size types. Standard (I don’t breed this size) more than 15 inches at the shoulder. Miniature are 15 inches or under. Typically toy poodles are less than 10 inches at the shoulder.

Yorkshire Terrier aka Yorkie:

The AKC breed standard for the breed is 7 lbs. Although that is the AKC show standards it is easy to find examples of larger pure-bred Yorkshire Terriers that make wonderful pets. Typically, we see our pups’ adult size range from 5 to 9 lbs. Although as stated above we do not guarantee that.

Designer Breeds:

(Yorkie-Poo and Malti-poo are the only designer breeds we have periodically)

Because there is no breed standard for these breeds the range is anywhere between their parents’ typical standards.
